Bequests

Your will is a meaningful way to a make a charitable gift of lasting value.  Through a bequest provision, you can designate a specific amount of money, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder of your estate after other bequests are satisfied.  Adding a codicil to an existing will is a simple process that begins by making your intentions known to your attorney.

The Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge is classified by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 c(3) organization. Charitable contributions are therefore tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Gifts of Appreciated Securities

If you are considering making a gift of appreciated securities, a number of benefits may be available for both you and the Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge.  In addition, it is quite simple!

How it Works:

  1. You transfer securities to the Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge
  2. The Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge immediately sells your securities and uses the proceeds of that sale to benefit diocesan initiatives.  You may decide to direct your gift to the diocesan fund of your choice.

Gifts of Real Estate

Real property gifts will be accepted at the discretion of the diocese after a review of all relevant factors.  Because of the complexities and issues involved with real property gifts, the diocese has adopted a set of procedures.  Please contact the Office of Stewardship at 225-336-8790 or email stewardship@diobr.org.
